iPhone 8 and iPhone X

Yesterday, Apple announced the new iPhones: iPhone 8 and iPhone X in their annual Apple Special Event. This year it took place, for the first time, in the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.

The iPhone 8 looks pretty similar, in terms of design, to its predecessor iPhone 7. The differences rely in small details like wireless charging, more durable glass in the front and back, retina HD display, more advanced 12MP camera, and a faster CPU called A11 Bionic, that is capable of processing 600 million operations per second making it 25% faster than the prior chip.

While the iPhone 8 has new features that make it a top-notch smartphone, everyone is focusing on the iPhone X.  This smartphone has a 5.8″ retina screen with no home button.  To unlock the phone they bring a new technology called Face ID, that uses facial map of the user. With this feature the user has to front-face the smartphone and once it recognizes the person the device is unlocked. No more fingerprint recognizer. Apple uses machine learning to integrate Adaptive Recognition. This is to make sure that Face ID can adapt to any physical changes in the user’s appearance over time.

It also brings the animoji feature that mirrors user’s expressions in animated emojis. It also comes with the A11 Bionic chip and the 12MP dual camera on the back.

iPhone X looks sleek but the “entirely screen” design is nothing new. Samsung already has those features in the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8.

iPhone 8 prices vary between $699 and $949. iPhone X price varies between $999 and $1,149.
